How Extraction Works in Mistfall Hunter
A source-backed explanation of the PvPvE match loop, Returner Woodling, Soul of Return, death risk and squad size.
Enter, gather and survive
Mistfall Hunter is a third-person PvPvE extraction action RPG. You enter a Gyldenmist-corrupted area, fight Corroded creatures and rival Gyldhunters, and search for loot. Dying can cost both collected spoils and the equipment taken into the match.
The verified extraction objective
The official website describes a specific escape method: locate and defeat a Returner Woodling, obtain a Soul of Return, then use it to find the way home. Exact spawn conditions and launch-build handling remain unverified.
- Locate a Returner Woodling
- Defeat it
- Obtain a Soul of Return
- Use the item to escape with your spoils
Solo and squad play
You can enter alone or with a squad of up to three. Official developer notes also say players can group with multiple copies of the same class, so the squad planner allows duplicates and does not apply a composition penalty.
Questions answered
Do you lose gear when you die?
